DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON IMPERATIVE SENTENCE IN SABU LANGUAGE

The title of this writing is “Descriptive Study On Imperative Sentence In Sabu Langauge”. This research was conducted to answer research problem; 1. What are the types of imperative sentence in sabu language? 2. What are the function of imperative sentence in Sabu language? The aim of this research was to find out the types of imperative and the function of imperative sentence in sabu language. The writer used qualitative method (interview and recording), base on the data and fact that serve in narrative explanation and did the interview. and the result of the interview show and answer those research problem about the types and function of imperative sentence in Sabu Language. The types of imperative sentence in sabu languae consists of two types those are positive and negative command. while the function of imperative sentence in Sabu Language consist of five function those are 1. Imperative sentence as Instruction. 2. Imperative sentence as Request 3. Imperative sentence as Suggestion, 4. Imperative sentence as Advise, 5. Imperative sentence as Prohibition.

AN ANALYSIS OF TRANSLATION METHOD ON NARATIVE TEXT FROM INDONESIAN INTO ENGLISH DONE BY SIXTH SEMESTER STUDENTS AT ARTHA WACANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY

An Analysis of Translation Methods on narrative Text from Indonesian into English Done by Sixth Semester Students at Artha Wacana Christian University ABSTRACT Student, Name1 Supervisor1, Name.2 Supervisor2, Name.3 (Mnir, Yashinta Lereansi) (Ngongo, Magdalena) (Ludji, Ifoni) Translation is changing an activity of changing a language into another language spoken or written. It has become something which affects the development of world literature. This research was conducted to identify the translation methods applied by the students in translating narrative text. The objective of this research were to describe 1. the types of translation methods, and 2. the dominant types of translation methods used by the sixth semester students. This research was classified as descriptive qualitative method. The researcher carried out this study on May 2022. The researcher obtained the data from the 33 students. Based on the analysis, it was found out that there were eight types of translation methods used in translating the story from Indonesian into English. They were 1.word-for-word translation example : SL : pada suatu hari Sangkuriang minta pamit untuk berburu.TL : ‘to a certain day Sangkuriang request leave for hunt’. (2) literal translation example SL : Dayang Sumbi tidak akan menikah dengan Sangkuriang.TL : ‘Dayang Sumbi would never marry with her son’.(3) faithful translation example SL : Ibu pergi ke pasar TL : ‘Mother goes to the market’. (4) semantic translation example SL : air sungai mengalir TL : ‘the river run’. (5) adaptation translation example SL : Rambut nenek itu putih seperti salju TL : ‘Grandma’s hair was white like cotton’. (6) free translation example SL : suatu hari sangkuriang minta pamit untuk berburu.TL : ‘one day sangkuriang want to hunting. (7) idiomatic translation example SL : menendang ember TL : ‘kick the bucket’. (8) communicative translation example SL : Pada suatu hari Sangkuriang minta pamit untuk berburu. TL : ‘One day, Sangkuriang asked a permission to Dayang Sumbi to go to hunting’.Relating to the dominant types of translation methods, it was found out communicative translation type was the dominant 33 times used and it was followed by word for word translation that consist of 26 times used, faithful translation was 6 times, semantic translation was 3 times, literal translation was used 12 times, adaptation translation was used 0 times, free translation was used 0 times and idiomatic translation was 5 times used. [email protected] Latar belakang: Hingga saat ini belum diketahui upaya guru untuk dapat mengembangkan suatu pola pembelajaran penjasorkes melalui permainan bola voli pada Siswa SMA Efata Soe sehingga dalam proses belajar mengajar dpat menjadi efektif dan efesian. Tujuan penelitian: Untuk mengetahui upaya guru dalam mengembangkan pola pembelajaran penjasorkes permainan bola voli pada siswa kelas XII SMA Efata Soe. Metode penelitian: Kualitatif deskriptif naturalistik untuk mendapatkan data-data dari tempat penelitian sesuai dengan kenyataan yang dilihat dan didengar peneliti, dengan membutuhkan waktu selama ± 2 (dua) bulan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah 1. Observasi, 2. wawancara, dan 3. dokumentasi. Peran peneliti dalam penelitian ini adalah sebagai instrumen kunci sedangkan yang menjadi informan dalam penelitian ini adalah 1.kepala sekolah, 2.guru, 3. siswaemua data temuan yang didapatkan dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis data kualitatif yang dikembangkan oleh Sugiyono. Hasil dan pembahasan: Pembelajaran yang berkualitas sangat tergantung dari motivasi dan kreativitas pengajar sehigga dapat terciptanya proses belajar mengajar yang efektif dan efisien yang diukur melalui perubahan sikap dan kemampuan siswa melalui proses model pembelajaran yang berbasis langsung, model pembelajaran berbasis masalah, model pembelajaran kontekstual serta model pembelajaran berbasis cooperative. Simpulan: Pola pembelajaran Penjasorkes harus lebih koparatif dengan model-model pembelajaran yang sedang berkembang dan yang dikembangkan oleh guru itu sendiri sehingga mampu memberikan pembelajaran yang efektif. Reasearch Method : The method that used is naturalistic descriptive qualitative that able to gain data based on reallity to what the researcher seen and heard in the research place that taking ± 2 months. The techniques of gaining data are 1. Observation,2. Interview and 3. Documentation. The role of the researcher in this research will be the key instrument. The informant are 1. Headmaster,2. Teachers.3. students. All data that gained were analyzed by using qualitative data anlysis technique developed by Sugiyono. Results and discussion : The quality learning is highly dependent on the motivation and creativity teachers to create an effective and efficient teaching and learning process that measured by students attitude and abillity by direct – based learning models, problem-based learning models, contextual learning models and cooperative-based learning model. Conclussion : the Physical Education learning method must be more cooperative with the developing methods right now andit is developed by teachers themselves so they are able to provide effective learning. A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON LANGUAGE STYLE IN “ GREYHOUND’’ MOVIE

The title of this Study is a descriptive study on language Styles in the film Greyhound. The problem of this study is what style of language is used in the movie Greyhound?. According to Joos' theory about five style.. This research is intended to examine the language style by all the cast of the film "Greyhound". Language variety is the use of language according to the relationship of speech with the interlocutor for communication with conditions influenced by social interaction. As in the movie starring the four main characters, they are Tom Hank, Stephe Graham, Rab Morgan, Elisabeth Shue. In the film there is a variety of languages. Researchers only focus on speech that contains a variety of languages of five types, frozen, formal, consultative, casual and intimate, because the source of the data in this study is a conversational dialogue in the form of text. The research method uses a qualitative method, namely by looking at the film and then looking for text that contains language variations in the conversation, then grouping it together. With the details of the data as follows: the type of variety frozen four data, the type of formal variety there are forty data, the type of consultative variety there are twenty-four, in the type of casual variety there are nineteen data, and intimate there are eleven data. It can be concluded that from the use of language varieties, the most dominant is the formal variety type, there are forty data.

AN ANALYSIS ON IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS FOUND IN ROBERT FAHIK’S NOVEL “ BADUT MALAKA”

This research is about an analysis on idiomatic expressions found in Robert Fahik’s novel Badut Malaka. To support this study the writer used theory of Fernando (1996:36). The other theory that the writer used come from Palmer (1986:27). The research problems of this study are what are the kinds of idiomatic expressions and how are the forms of the idiomatic expressions inBadut Malaka Novel by Robert Fahik. The aims of this study are to describe and classify the kinds and the forms of idiomatic expressions found in badut malaka novel by Robert Fahik. Qualitative method is used in doing this research. The data was taken from the Badut Malaka novel. In this research, the writer used documentation technique to collected the data from the novel ,then analyzed the idiomatic expression of each utterance that includes to the kinds of idiomatic expression and forms of idiomatic expression. After analyzing the data, the writer found three kinds of idiomatic expressions they are pure idiomatic, semi idiomatic, and literal idiomatic, and four forms of idiomatic expression are verb plus noun, verb plus adverb, verb plus preposition, and verb plus adverb and preposition used in the badut malaka Novel by Robert Fahik. The kinds of idiomatic expression are pure idiomatic, such as mengetuk dinding-dinding hatiyang beku, it is means give strength, semi idiomatic, such as melahirkan duka it is means a great sadness, literal idiomatic, such as kepala tegak it is means proudly, and the forms are verb plus noun, such as mengetuk dinding-dinding hatiit is means give strength, verb plus adverb, such as membaca dibalik dadamu it is means feel believe, verb plus preposition, such as tertancap diit is means borne, verb plus adverb and preposition, such as kembali ketanah kelahirannya dengan tegak kepala it is means proudly. After analyzing the data the writer found twenty five data of kinds idiomatic expressions used in badut malaka novel, that consist of : eight of idioms as pure idiomatic expression, four of idioms as semi idiomatic expression, and thirteen of idioms as literal idiomatic expression. Penggunaan Metode Look and Say untuk Meningkatkan Penguasaan Kosakata Siswa Kelas VIII SMP N 2 Kupang”.

This research entitled “Use of Look and Say Method to improve student’s Vocabulary Mastery at the Eighth Grade of SMP N 2 Kupang.The writer’s research problem is:Does the Use of Look and Say method improve students’ vocabulary at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Kupang? Aim of this study is: To find out whether or not the use of Look and Say method improve students’ vocabulary at the eighth grade of SMP N 2 Kupang. In this study the writer used descriptive quantitative especially Experimental Design. Based on the analysis it was found that there is an improvement between students’vocabulary before and after giving treatment by using Look and Say Method that can be proved through the result showed that the pre test is 33,51 and the post test is 84,68, then the T-Test 10,9 due T-table is 1,695 the T-test is higher than T-table so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accept and the null hypothesis(Ho)is rejected therefore based on the data obtained, the writer writer concludedthat: The student’s vocabulary mastery before using of Look and say method wasstilllow,the problem was that they were stil llack of the vocabularies and not familiar with the words but After the writer gave the treatment by using Look and Say Method vocabulary of Student’s at SMP Negeri 2 Kupang very good improvement. Analisis Metode Terjemahan dalam subtitle film Wednesday dari Bahasa Inggris ke Bahasa Indonesia

Translation methods are used to translate a text from various sources such as song lyric, newspaper, novels, even translated texts in popular movies so that the translation results are directed and easy to understand. The writer investigates translation methods used in Wednesday movie with the research problem: what are the types of translation methods that found in English-Indonesia subtitle of Wednesday movie? This study aims to find out and describe the types of translation methods according to Newmark (1988) found in English-Indonesia subtitles of Wednesday movie. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data were taken from the first episode of Wednesday's movie. The writer classified the data in the form of sentences and phrases which are divided based on each translation method. The results show that there are eight types of translation methods used, namely word-for-word translation, literal translation, faithful translation, semantic translation, adaptation translation, free translation, idiomatic translation, and communicative translation. Subtitle of Wednesday movie can be understood because the translation results show that the translator translated based on the content and adapts it to the understanding of the target language through sentences or words that are often used by the target language.

[email protected] Latar belakang: Penelitaian ini tidak banyak siswa/i yang aktif karena metode pembelajaran yang di berikan sudah lasim seperti ceramah, tanya jawab dan diskusi, sehigga mengakibatkan suasana kelas menjadi jenuh. Tujuan penelitian: Yang akan di teliti yaitu untuk menguji Pengaruh Metode Card Short Terhadap Penguasaan Konsep Menendang Bola dalam Pembelajaran Penjasorkes. Metode penelitian: Penelitianyang digunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil dan pembahasan: Berdasarkan uji independenttest sampel pada pre-test pada kelompok experiment dan kelompok kontrol tidak terdapat perbedaan. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh rata-rata nilai kelompok experimen yaitu 83,21 dan rata-rata nilai kelompok kontrol yaitu 82,10, dilakukan uji t independent sampel menunjukan perbedaan hasil post-test penguasaan konsep siswa antara kelompokexperimentdan kelompok kontrol. Simpulan: Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa model pembelajran card short dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep siswa dengan materi menendang bola. Kata kunci: Metode, Penguasaan, Menendang. [email protected] Background:In this study, not many students were active because the learning methods provided were traditional, such as lectures, question and answer and discussion, so that the class atmosphere became saturated. Research objective: What will be examined is to examine the effect of the Card Short Method on the Mastery of the Concept of Kicking the Ball in Physical Education Learning. Research Method: The research used is descriptive quantitative. Result and discussion: Based on the independent sample test in the pre-test in the experimental group and the control group, there was no difference. Based on the data obtained, the average value of the experimental group was 83.21 and the average value of the control group was 82.10. Independent sample t-test was conducted to show differences in the results of the post-test of students' concept mastery between the experimental group and the control group. Conclusion: These results indicate that the card short learning model can improve students' mastery of concepts with the material of kicking a ball. Keyword: Method, Mastery, Kicking.

An Analysis of Ngoko Java Language Maintenance for East Java Youngsters of Arek Jatim Community at Kupang City

The title of this writing is “An Analysis of Ngoko Java Language Maintenance by East Java Youngsters of Arek Jatim Community at Kupang City”. This research was conducted to answer two research problems; 1. What are the reasons and efforts of East Java Youngsters still use and maintaining Ngoko Java Language at Kupang City?; and 2. What are the factors of East Java Youngsters in maintaining Ngoko Java Language at Kupang City?. It is an analysis of maintaining Ngoko Java language in Kupang City by East Java Youngsters. The writer used descriptive qualitative method (interview and documentary analysis) as the data and facts served in narrative explanation and grouped the conversation that suitable the language used. And the result of interview showed and answered those research problems about reasons, efforts, and factors of maintaining Ngoko Java language that did by East Java Youngsters of Arek Jatim Community in Kupang City. The reasons of maintaining Ngoko Java language are it is easier to build communication, it can encourage the same Javanese to still use and maintain Ngoko Java language, it is a habits of East Java Youngsters for using Ngoko Java language. The efforts of maintaining Ngoko Java language are join in a community like Arek Jatim community they will get good communication and build self- identity for where they are come from, they ask to their parents, family to speak use Ngoko Java language. The factors of maintaining Ngoko Java language are the people around and community that they are join is.

A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON TEACHERS’ TEACHING METHODS OF ENGLISH COURSE AT SMAN 1 KUPANG TIMUR.

The title of this study is “A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY ON TEACHERS’ TEACHING METHODS OF ENGLISH COURSE AT SMAN 1 KUPANG TIMUR”. The aim of this study are to find out the teachers teaching methods of English course. The design of this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The sample used is three English teachers, the research instrument used to conduct the data are interview and record, the writer asks some questions to the teachers. The writer transcribe the recording result, the writer identified the data, classified the data, the writer analyzed the data, and the writer describe a conclusion. The results of the study indicate that of the three English teachers each have teaching methods they use when teaching in class. From the result teaching methods used by English teacher I are: Cooperative learning method, Genre based text method, Project based method, Problem based method, Jigsaw method, Role playing method, and Numbered head together method. The methods used by English teacher II are: Problem based method and Discovery learning method. The methods used by the English teacher III are: Problem based method, Discovery learning method, and Genre based text method.
