This research is a study on semantic meaning of lyrics in hole a traditional song of ritual ceremony after harvest in sabunese culture. There one of research problem namely what are the types of semantic meaning of lyrics in Hole. The aim of this research were to find out types of semantic meaning of lyrics in Hole. The data was taken from one person as informant using the note-taking and applied documentation as the data collection. Based on the analysis the lyrics hole, there are four types of semantic meaning. The first is conceptual meaning, for example, conceptual meaning, I,e: This rice will thrive, and we will use it as a sign of a successful harvest. Ne are nade do ta muri nga merede. connotative meaning,I,e: Moba’ni nadu mi manu. That naughty girl/chicken. collocative meaning,I,e: rowi kolo loro mone lamma. For male offspiring. thematic meaning,I,e: mita nyale ta pelam’me ne are wie hab’ba rai lowe. In order to be divided rice for all hab’ba people. The conclusion is there are four types of semantic meaning of Hole which are conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, collocative meaning, thematic meaning. While, there is three type that is not found in Hole Lyrics song, namely reflective meaning. stylistic meaning, affective meaning, and reflected meaning.

This thesis entitled “A Descriptive Study On Terms Of Address In Wanukaka Language West sumba “.The research questions what are the types terms of address in wanukaka language used for addressing people and how do people one another related to their different social status in the society. The aims of this study asTo find out the types terms of address in Wanukaka language of west Sumba language and To describe the ways in addressing people of high, the same and low status in Wanukaka language of west Sumba language. The data collected from people in wanukaka their daily communication. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The result shows that types of address terms is divide into five addressing name, addressing term using kinship,addressing term using respect, addresingt term using close relationship intimate, addressing term using mockeries.

KAJIAN DESKRIPTIF TENTANG ISTILAH SAPAAN DALAM BAHASA WANUKAKA
Penelitian ini berjudul : “Kajian Deskriptif Tentang Istilah Sapaan Dalam Bahasa Wanukaka Kabupaten Sumba Barat”.Rumusan masalahnya yaitu apa jenis istilah sapaan dalam bahasa wanukaka yang di gunakan untuk memanggil orang apa dan bagaimana orang-orang menyapa satu sama lain terkait dengan status sosial mereka yang berbeda dalam masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mngetahui jenis-jenis istilah sapaan dalam bahasa wanukaka bahasa sumba barat dan mendescripsikan cara menyapa orang yang berkedudukan tinggi, sederajat dan rendah dalam bahasa wanukaka bahasa sumba barat . Metode yang dipakai adalah deskriptif kualitatif . Dari hasil penemuan bahwa ada 5 tipe dari kata sapaan, seperti :nama panggilan, istilah panggilan kerabat,istilah penggunaan panggilan rasa hormat, istilah panggilan yang di gunakan hubungan dekat atau intim, itilah panggilan menggunakan ejekan .

This research discussed the semiotic meanings Found In Traditional Lego-Legodance of Alor Regency Practiced By Ternate Umapura Villagers.This research useded descriptive qualitative method. The Instrument used by the writer was interviewed, observation bythe study and clasified. The writerrecordied during the interview, writer documented all the process and later, transcribe the utterance of informantabout the meaning of Lego-Lego dance in TernateUmapura village of Alor Regency in Northwest Alor. This study is entitled An Analysis on Affixation Process of Anakalang Dialect Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency. The research questions in this study are 1). What are the types of affixes found in the Anakalang Dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency? 2) What are the functions and meanings of the types of affixes found in the Anakalang Dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency? This study aims to determine the types of affixation, functions, and meanings found in the Anakalang dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency. This research method is descriptive qualitative. Data sources were taken using observation techniques through recordings from native speakers of the Anakalang language in the process of proposing or transferring a girl. Based on the results of the analysis it was found that there are two types of affixes, functions, and meanings of Anakalang dialect namely: prefixes and suffixes. The prefix consists of six types: ha-, ka-, ma-, na-, pa-, and ta-. In comparison, the suffix consists of three types, namely -da, -na, and -ngu. The function of affixes in the Anakalang dialect, is to change word classes into other word classes and then form affixes according to the inherent basic form. The meaning of affixes in the Anakalang dialect is to have different meanings according to the inherent basic form. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that there are only two types of affixes in the Anakalang dialect, Pondok Village, Umbu Ratu Nggay Barat District, Central Sumba Regency, namely prefixes and suffixes, and have functions and meanings that change word classes into other word classes.

This thesis contains an analysis of signs at the ceremony of the Mekala- Kalaan Ritual on The Balinese Wedding Ceremony. This not a culture that has just been heard, but until now there are still many people who do not understand about it. In this thesis the author explains the signs found in the ceremony of the Mekala-Kalaan Ritual on The Balinese Wedding Ceremony based on the theory of Pierce in Cobley (2001:31), Semiotic is a study that describes a sign in an interpretative process. A sign is something that stands in a well defined kind of relation to two other things are sign, object and interpretant. That the research is focuses on the divided sign becomes icon, index, and symbol. In completing this research, the researchers focused on using qualitative methods which were carried out by grouping picture from YouTube with videos conducting interview with the ceremonial leaders and conducting data processing. The result of the study, there are 10 found of signs. Found of sign in The Mekala-Kalaan Ritual on The Balinese Wedding Ceremony among others: Sanggah Surya ‘Palace bamboo’, Tikeh Dadakan ‘small mat’, Keris ‘ceremonial knife’, Benang putih ‘white thread’, Tegen-tegenan ‘bunder of responsibility,’ Suwun-suwunan ‘portable means’, Dagang-dagangan ‘merchandise’, Sampat Lidi ‘broom stick’, Sambuk Kupakan ‘ coconut husk’, Tetimpung ‘bamboo on fire’. The meaning of the sign in the way of life of the people of the Mekala-Kalaan Ritual on The Balinese Wedding Ceremony is a symbol of strength, love and care, openness, fertility, financial support, strength in the familly, warmth for the soul and modesty, if there is problem that should be discussed or agreed before making the decision. So The Mekala-Kalaan ritual must be carried out before the wedding ceremony , so that the marriage can be pure physically and mentally

ABSTRACT
This thesis is under the title “An Analysis of Rhyme and Meaning Found in Hase Hawaka Lyric at Lasiolatvillage. The problem of this study are what are the types of rhyme in Hase Hawaka lyric? And what are the dominant types of meaning in Hase Hawaka lyric?. The aim of study are to find out the types of rhyme and dominant types of meaning in Hase Hawaka lyrics. Qualitative research is used as a method in this study. The data were taken from four members of the community or in tetun language is called Makoanwhich means speakers. Consisting of village official and descendats of king, in Lasiolat village, Belu regency. Sofyan in hamzah theory of rhyme and leech theory of meaning, are both the main theories for analyzing data. Based on the analysis of the rhyme and meaning of Hase Hawaka lyrics. The writer finds 65 stanza which are classified as 6 continues rhymes, 8 double rhymes, 2 broken rhymes and 3 dominant meaning, all of which include conocative meaning.After describing the rhyme and meaning, the writer hopes that this research can provide information or knowledge about the rhyme and meaning of HaseHawaka lyric to in society the Fatulotu village, Lasiolatsubdistrict, Belu Regency.

ABSTRACT This research entitled An Analysis of Jargon Terms Used in Mowgli Legend of the Jungle Movie Script. The research problems of this research are “1)What are the forms of jargons words found in the Movie Mowgli Legend of the Jungle? 2) What are the meaning of jargon found in the Movie Mowgli Legend of the Jungle? And the aims of study from this research are 1) to find out the forms of jargons words found in the Movie Mowgli Legend of the Jungle. 2) To find out the meaning of jargon found in the Movie Mowgli Legend of the Jungle. The data was collected or taken from Mowgli Legend of the Jungle movie script. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The result of this study shows that there are two forms of jargon, they are words and phrase. In word forms there are seven data was found and there are four data was found in the phrase form. Then there are two meaning of jargon namely: denotative meaning and connotative meaning. In denotative meaning there are four data was found and in connotative meaning there are four data was found. The forms and meaning of jargons has been described by the two forms of jargon (words and phrase) and the two meaning of jargon (denotative meaning and connotative meaning)

This research entitled Semantic Analysis On Contextual Meanings Of Ata Ratu’s Songs In The Kambera Language. Based on the songs of Ata Ratu in general, this study aims to to find out the contextual meanings of Ata Ratu’s songs in theKambera language. This study uses qualitative methods to find out the results. The researchers carry out the necessary data collection activities followed by processing the data with the specified techniques. The results of data analysis and interpretation showed that in the lyrics of Ata Ratu’s songs there are contextual meanings that are : (1) Context of Organs. Songs title: Mbawa Rimangu Na Annanduma Lurimu “Be careful in making a living”, (S1), Rimanya Na Wikinda “Take care of Ourselves”,(S2), Daningu Anda Monungu “No Hope”, (S5). (2) Context of Situation. The translation is extremely beneficial, especially for those who are unable to speak or understand a foreign language. Translation procedures were the tools for transferring meaning from one language to another language. The writer created the research problems as follows: (1) what were the types of translation procedures found in the book of Marks in Kupang Malay? (2) What were the meanings of sentences based on translation procedure found in the book of Marks in Kupang Malay? Maromon3 Based on the background of this research there are two problems being investigated, they are: (1) what are the forms of cloth and jewelry worn by ledo hawu dancers in Hawu Mehara District, Sabu Raijua Regency? (2) what are the meanings of cloth and jewelry worn by ledo hawu dancers in Hawu Mehara District, Sabu Raijua Regency? Thus, the aims of this research are: (1) to know the forms of cloth and jewelry worn by ledo hawu dancers in Hawu Mehara District, Sabu Raijua Regency; (2) to know the meanings of cloth and jewelry worn by ledo hawu dancers in Hawu Mehara District, Sabu Raijua Regency. The research method used in this research is the descriptive-qualitative method with interview, documentary study as techniques of data collection. The result of this research shows that there are various kinds form and meaning of cloth and jewelry used in the performance of ledo hawu, especially in Tao Leo as a funeral ceremony of Jingitiu. In terms of cultural semiotics perspective, each of them contains several meanings; they are hig’i pudi (smooth white blanket) means honesty and holiness or purity life of a dead in the presence of his/her Almighty God (Deo Ama); lehu kattu (head band) means appreciation of the gift given by Miha Ngara as one of the ancestors of Sabunese and all at once as the descent commemoration of Sabunese; labba (silver/gold cross crown) means honoring on the merits and the struggle of the earlier dead kings of Sabunese; wudu (traditional necklace) means rich treasures of the earlier ancestors including the families of the dead; teru’u (ring) means rich treasures of the dead; hemala (sword) means knight of men to expel every evil spirits during the way of the dead till the world of ancestors; wonagiri (feet bells) means entertainment for the family members of the deceased and accompanist for the dead on his/her way to the world of the earlier ancestors; ‘ai (sarong) means self-protection and identity of female dead for the earlier ancestors; and paddi (silver/gold belt) means bundle of Hubi Ae and Hubi Iki descents between the dead and the alive person.

AN ANALYSIS ON THE MEANING OF FAREWELL SONG LYRICS IN “BONET” ABSTRACT Student Supervisor1 Supervisor2 Anita S.S. Bantaika Seprianus A Nenotek, S.Pd., M.Pd Alfred Snae, S.Pd., M.Pd This research entitled an analysis on the meaning of farewell song lyrics in Bonet. The purposes of this research are to know the meaning and the value contained in the farewell song lyrics in Bonet. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method to find the result. The writer conducted this research in TTS Regency, Noebana district, Noebana village, especially Noebana Primary School. The researcher here used a research instrument, questions related to the lyrics of the Bonet in the process of conducting research. The all data was collected the first through the appearance of Bonet performs (sixth grades students) at Noebana Primary School and the second through interview with (traditional elders) or people who know about the meaning and the values contained in the farewell song lyrics in Bonet. The result of this study shows that there are five types of meanings namely: didactic meaning, sociological meaning, historical meaning, cultural meaning and aesthetic meaning. And then there are four types of values namely: ethical values, aesthetic values, religious values and the last social values.

ABSTRACT This research entitles A semantic analysis on associtive meaning of traditional poetries in Tetun language at Malaka regency. The purpose of this research is to find out the types of associative meaning, and the function of each types of associative meaning of traditional poetry in Tetun language at Malaka regency. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative method. The theory used in the research was the theory of associative meaning by Leech in semantic study of meaning. The result five types of associative meaning, there are 1. connocative meaning, Silu nola lain ida nodi namina ama wehali nain wehali nodimina ina wehali, 2. Social meaning, Ami ata fafudi ne kwer e lale ,3. Affective meaning, neon fo ba malu , 4. Rerflective meaning, Len nu loro foin taba and 5. Collocative meaning, lia diak. The function of connocative The word means is because they are usually defined conceptually which have features in real world. The word here show the real word of king. The function of social meaning is to show the new sense of one expressions. In the example show the difference dialect beetwen a normal human and human in kingdom. The function of affective meaning is in this phrase show the emosion of poet who asking for his parent to teach him to always love each other. The function of reflected meaning is show the feeling of poet’s feture life who light like sunshine. The function of collocative meaning is was used with another adjective to express an emotion as in sentence above. So, the phrase “good voice” is more suitable for this context

This thesis entitled “ A Descriptive Study On Lexical Relations In Kambera Language In Watuhadang Village, East Sumba Regency “.The research questions what are the types of lexical relations found in Kambera language in East Sumba and what are the meaning of lexical relations occur in Kambera language in East Sumba Regency. It aims to find out the types and meaning of lexical relations found in kambera language. The data collected from people in Watuhadang village in case of their daily communication. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The result shows that types of lexical relations is divide into five, they are hyponymy, synonymy,polysemy,homonymy and antonymy. Homonymy for example iwi ‘ratttan and yam forest’,synonymy for example padeningu= langataka ‘true’,polysemy for example katiku ‘head or the top of something’, hyponymy for example mbada ‘animal’ and antonymy for example hamu+ ndahamu ‘nice and not good’. The research found five types of lexical relations, they are 12 word of homonyms, 16 words of synonyms,6 words of polysemy,8 words of hyponyms and 12 words of antonyms.From the five types of lexical relations with many more others examples each types in Kambera language above is often also found in everyday conversation by people in Watuhadang village.

ABSTRACT
This research is About An Analysis On Referential Meaning of People’s Name in
Loli Society of West Sumba Regency. The problems of this study are, 1). what are
the Referential Name’s of Loli People’s and 2). What are the types of the Reference
used to Name People in Loli Society of West Sumba Regency. and classify the
types of referential meanings of people’s name in loli society. Data were collected
by interviewing some informants of Loli people. Living in Loli district. All data
were analyzed by applying descriptive qualitative method. After analyzing the data,
it was found out that there are 40 names of loli people. The name that used by the
people were given based on the ancestors name. the types of referential name are
meaning of futurative that consist of eight names such as Buni Kose,and Lede Pare
Siango, meaning of situational consist of ten names such as Bulu Leiju Ngaba, and
Buni Dengi Api, and meaning of memories of twenty-two names such as Bulu Pata
Ledi, and Leba Kadu Lewa. The research could give more information for students
who want to study about referential meaning of people’s name in loli society of
west sumba regency.

This study discussed the “Semantic Analysis on Traditional Songs Lyrics in Letti Language”. The aims of the study are: (1) To find out the types of meaning in semantic analysis on traditional songs lyrics in Letti language, and (2) To find out the dominant types of meaning in semantic analysis on traditional songs lyrics in Letti language. The writer took three songs, they were; Nara Awake Ampun Tiow song, Inku Amku song and Ina Ama song. The data taken from videos on YouTube channel of Rinto Lewen. The method of this study was descriptive qualitative method. In analyzing the data, the writer use the theory about semantics meaning by Leech (In Pardede 2016).The result of this study showed that there were seven types of meanings in Rinro Lewen channel; conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, social meaning, affective meaning, reflective meaning, co-locative meaning and the last one is thematic meaning. While the dominant types of those traditional song lyrics is affective meaning with a total 11 points and a total dominant 34.38%. After making the analysis on the semantics meaning in Song Lyrics in Letti language, the writer expects this research could give some information or knowledge about semantic meaning used in Letti language. The writer also expects that young generation of the island of Letti in Maluku, just east of Timor have to care of local language as one of the wealth of their culture must be preserved.

ABSTRACT The title of this Thesis is ‘‘An Analysis of Ideational Meaning of the Song Lyric in Michael Learns to Rock Greates Album Hits ‘Paint My Love’. The research problems of this study are: 1) what is the ideational meaning found in the song lyric of Michael Learns to Rock greatest hits‘Paint My Love? 2) How are the proces used to express the ideational meaning on the song of Michael learns to rock. The aims of this study are: 1) to find out the ideational meaning in the song lyric of Michael Learns to Rock greatest hits‘Paint My Love 2) to describe and identify the process used of ideational meaning on the song of Michael learns to rock. In this research the writer used qualitative method to describe the data. The data was taken from the lyric song in MLTR Greates hits Album, after found the data, the writer analyzed the data and find out the ideational meaning realized with the participant such as I, you, they, he, she and its, processes (material process, mental process, existential process, verbal process, behavioral process and relation process), and circumstance such as the rain and snow, tomorrow and here today.

ABSTRACT The Sewu Api ceremony is one of the traditional ceremony carried out by the Lio ethnic, this ceremony is usually carried out once a year. The Sewu Api ceremony is a thanksgiving ceremony to the ancestors and olso to God because in one year it has provided abundant harvest to the community. The Sewu Api ceremony is usually carried out for three days. The Sewu Api ceremony is usually carried out by feeding the deceased ancestor and perfoming traditional dance together and olso the Sewu Api ceremony as a moment to ask the ancestors to give blessings to avoid harm and give healt and also success, usually in the Sewu Api traditional ceremony it is usually led by the ancestors who is usually called in the Ende language that is Mosalaaki. The Sewu Api ceremony is convinced by the local community, especially the Lio ethnic. Based on the description above, there are problems that need to be discussed in this pape, included (1) What types of speech acts are commonly used in the Sewu Api ceremony inn the Lio ethnic? (2) What is the meaning of speech act of the Sewu Api ceremony in the Lio ethnic? The purpose of this study is to find out what type of speech acts are commonly used in the Sewu Api ceremony in the Lio ethnic and olso know the process of the Sewu Api ceremony in the Lio community. Lio ethnic complete information regarding the the required data from the Mosalaki or ancestors, culture observes, and communyti shops , using the observation and interview method on the ancestors as the traditional shop that makes the Sewu Api ceremony and collectin primary data and secondary data is also shown by a literature review . The data collected is qualitative , from the research in the field , is is know that there are only ten speech act used in the Sewu Api ceremony in the Lio Ethnict such as , Act of greeting, act of pleading , speech acts of praise ,Speech Act of Asking, Promised Speech acts, Speech acts suggest,Waring speech acts , The speech act of Confirming, Spech Act gratituded, Speech Act of Ask. The Sewu Api ceremony seves to carry out harvest celebrations and express gratituded to God and ancestors who have givethe harvest and olso ask for blessing from ancestors who haved died and have religious, familial, and culture meaning. This writing is entitled A Study on Connotative Meaning of Selected Michael Learns To Rock’s Songs Lyrics. The aims of this writing areto identify the connotative meaning and to know and understand the message that existing in selected Michael Learns To Rock’s Songs Lyrics.In this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative method. It was used to describe the connotative meaning of selected Michael Learns To Rock’s Songs Lyrics and to describe the message that existing in selected Michael Learns To Rock’s Songs Lyrics.There were some procedures used by the writer in order to carry out this research, namely: The writer chose the selected Michael Learns To Rock’s Songs Lyric; the writer collected the data by downloading the songs and the lyrics; the writer listenned to the song to find the connotative meaning of the song lyrics; the writer read carefully the selected lyrics in order to understand its whole meaning; the writer found out any supporting books or some literature from library and internet to obtain important information, the theories, concepts, ideas or opinion which is relevant with the purpose of this writing; the writer retyped the data got from the lyric; after transcribing the data, the writeridentified and classified the forms of connotation; finally, the writer described the data in order to answer the problem of the research. Then, the data will be analyzed in descriptive based on the connotation theory. So, the writer used non-statistical analysis to analyze the data. The rearch shows that (1) denotative meaning lies on almost every song lyrics of Michael Learns To Rock, but the connotative meaning only lies fiveteen words in the three song lyrics, which it is the main data of this study and (2) the writer found connotative meaning occurs in partial of the lyric, and the denotative meaning occurs in majority of the lyric. The message of the lyric is delivered by MLTR in a good structure by using positive connotative meaning.

This study discussed about An Analysis of Lexical and Contextual Meanings of “Nekmese Tafen Pah’’ song lyric. Semantic is the branches of linguistics. Therefore, the writer was interested in analyzing the kinds of meaningsof‘’Nekmese Tafen Pah’’ song lyric. The problem of this study (1) What are the lexical and contextual meanings of ‘’Nekmese Tafen Pah’’ song lyric? (2) What are the dominant types of ‘’Nekmese Tafen Pah’’ song lyric? The writer takes lyrics song from the album. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method because the writer would analysis and interpret the research object of Eddy D. Tahoni lyric song. The step to obtain the data is by collecting sources of the data from Eddy D. Tahoni lyric song and from internet. After that she selects the songs which contain of semantic, reads and listen to the lyric to understand the content of the songs conducts and analyzes the collected data and makes conclusion. The result of this research is as follows: (1) related to the lexical meaning, while (2) related to the contextual meaning. The result of this study showed that there are 31 sentences that categorized as lexical meaning, 11 sentences of contextual meaning, 10 sentences of grammatical meaning, 26 sentences of conceptual meaning, 23 sentences of dennotative meaning ant the last is only 5 sentences for connotative meaaning. The writer expects this research will be usefull for the other researchers who are eager to know more about semantics. Moreover, semantic is an important branch of linguistics that is interesting to be studied, especially when it is applied to literary works, such us songs or poem etc.
