Supplementary Problems Booklet for Use with Numerical Methods for Engineers, Third Edition, Steven C. Chapra, Ray Canale
Numerical Methods for Engineers
The fourth edition of this book continues the tradition of excellence it established as the winner of the ASEE Meriam/Wiley award for best textbook. Instructors love it because it is a comprehensive text that is easy to teach from. Students love it because of its clear explanations and examples. This edition features an even broader array of applications, including all engineering disciplines. The authors' unique approach opens each part of the text with sections called Motivation, Mathematical Background and Orientation, preparing the student for what is to come in a motivating and engaging manner. Each part closes with an Epilogue containing sections called Trade-Offs, Important Relationships and Formulas, and Advanced Methods and Additional References. Much more than a summary, the Epilogue deepens understanding of what has been learned and provides a preview of more advanced methods. What's new in this edition? A shift in orientation toward more use of software packages, specifically MATLAB and Excel with VBA, includeing material on developing MATLAB m-files and VBA macros. Also, the text has been updated to reflect improvements in MATLAB and Excel since the last edition.
Numerical Methods for Engineers
Numerical Methods for Engineers retains the instructional techniques that have made the text so successful. Chapra and Canale's unique approach opens each part of the text with sections called “Motivation,“ “Mathematical Background,” and “Orientation". Each part closes with an “Epilogue” containing “Trade-Offs,” “Important Relationships and Formulas,” and “Advanced Methods and Additional References”. Much more than a summary, the Epilogue deepens understanding of what has been learned and provides a peek into more advanced methods. Numerous new or revised problems are drawn from actual engineering practice. The expanded breadth of engineering disciplines covered is especially evident in these exercises, which now cover such areas as biotechnology and biomedical engineering. Excellent new examples and case studies span all areas of engineering giving students a broad exposure to various fields in engineering. McGraw-Hill's Connect, is also available as an optional, add on item. Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need, when they need it, how they need it, so that class time is more effective. Connect allows the professor to assign homework, quizzes, and tests easily and automatically grades and records the scores of the student's work. Problems are randomized to prevent sharing of answers an may also have a "multi-step solution" which helps move the students' learning along if they experience difficulty.
Engineering Mathematics
Engineering Mathematics is the best-selling introductory mathematics text for students on science and engineering degree and pre-degree courses. Sales of previous editions stand at more than half a million copies. It is suitable for classroom use and self-study. Its unique programmed approach takes students through the mathematics they need in a step-by-step fashion with a wealth of examples and exercises. The book is divided into two sections with the Foundation section starting at Level 0 of the IEng syllabus and the main section extending over all elements of a first year undergraduate course and into many second year courses. The book therefore suits a full range of abilities and levels of access. The Online Personal Tutor guides students through exercises in the same step-by-step fashion as the book, with hundreds of full workings to questions.
Further Engineering Mathematics
The purpose of this book is essentially to provide a sound second year course in mathematics appropriate to studies leading to BSc Engineering degrees. It is a companion volume to "Engineering Mathematics" which is for the first year. An ELBS edition is available.

Engineering Mathematics
Since the publication of the third edition of Engineering Mathematics, considerable changes in syllabuses and options for A level qualifications in mathematics have been introduced nationally, as a result of which students with various levels of mathematical background have been enrolling for undergraduate courses in engineering and science. These changes have lead to the need for learning materials aimed at different levels. This text therefore includes ten programmes which act as an introduction to Engineering Mathematics and is designed for those students approaching the subject for the first time.
Advanced Engineering Mathematics
A long-standing, best-selling, comprehensive textbook covering all the mathematics required on upper level engineering mathematics undergraduate courses. Its unique approach takes you through all the mathematics you need in a step-by-step fashion with a wealth of examples and exercises. The text demands that you engage with it by asking you to complete steps that you should be able to manage from previous examples or knowledge you have acquired, while carefully introducing new steps. By working with the authors through the examples, you become proficient as you go. By the time you come to trying examples on their own, confidence is high. Suitable for undergraduates in second and third year courses on engineering and science degrees.

Reflection and Software Engineering
This book presents the state of the art of research and development of computational reflection in the context of software engineering. Reflection has attracted considerable attention recently in software engineering, particularly from object-oriented researchers and professionals. The properties of transparency, separation of concerns, and extensibility supported by reflection have largely been accepted as useful in software development and design; reflective features have been included in successful software development technologies such as the Java language. The book offers revised versions of papers presented first at a workshop held during OOPSLA'99 together with especially solicited contributions. The papers are organized in topical sections on reflective and software engineering foundations, reflective software adaptability and evolution, reflective middleware, engineering Java-based reflective languages, and dynamic reconfiguration through reflection.
Engineering Mathematics
Keeping pace with individual needs and curriculum changes, the new edition of this book once again offers the most complete and accessible reference to the key mathematical techniques used by practicing engineers. The book offers a complete introduction for a review course or a self-paced tutorial suited for a full year's instruction. The 28 programs lead users through the calculations via worked examples--with self-checks along the way.
