Audio-Visual is a component that contains elements of sound and image. The aims of this study were to find out the usefulness and effectiveness of using audiovisual materials in teaching narrative text. The writer formulated research questions namely does the audio-visual material in teaching narrative text can improve students’ listening comprehension and how far the effectiveness of using audio-visual material in teaching narrative text for increasing students listening comprehension. This research was an experimental research. There were two kinds of test that used, those were pre-test and post-test. It considered 57 students. The data was using T-test formula by comparing the mean score of pre-test and post-test. The significance level was set up 5%. The result of the research showed that, first, the students listening comprehension was difference before and after teaching using audio-visual material. The mean of pre-test was 33,50 while the mean of post-test was 87,00. The difference between pre-test and post-test mean was 43,5. Second, the result showed that t-test (to) 17,71 was higher than t-table (tt) 2,09 with the degree of freedom (df) 19. Therefore, there was significant difference after teaching using audio-visual material toward students’ listening comprehension. The effect size of experiment test was 4,30 which showed that using audio-visual material in teaching narrative text gave strong effect on students listening comprehension. It can be proved that audio-visual material is effective and can be used to improve students listening comprehension at SMP Negeri Bestaumuti in the academic year 2021.

ABSTRAC ANALYSIS OF STUDENS’ LEARNING ACTIVITY IN CLASS VIII AT THE STATE SMP SATAP NASI AMANATUN UTARA DISTRICT ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022 Benu, N. M.* Manu, T. S. N.** Blegur, J.** Learning activities are activitiescarried out in the classroom to obtain a very pleasant learning. Learning activities play a role in the learning outcomes that will be obtained by students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the learning activities of class VIII students at SMP Negeri Satap Nasi. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The subject in this study were students of class VIII SMP data analysis technique questionnaire with the percentage formula.The population of this study was 34 students. Data collection techniques used in the from of a questionnaire. The results obtained from visual 68,02% whit very good qualifications, Verbal activity 67,64%, listening activity 70,22%, writing activity 85,29%, drawing activity 79,41%, mental activity 68,62%. The presentage of assessment shows a positive response to students learning activity while the analisis for visual activitiest is very good because students pay attention to whatis conveyed by their friends when presenting the results of the discussion,oral activity is seen from student readiness, namely when students understand the learning material students will listen to the material presented by the theacer is asking ant the students do not understand what is explainedby the theacher students will ask questions, lisening activities students will listen to the material presented by theacer and the opinions conveyed by their friends, writing activities are good because every material presented explain the teacher will be written in their notebook and will be checked and reated by the theacer, drawing activities of student who have a talent for drawing will create concept maps from the explanations given by the teacher to facilitate understanding, good mental activityes because students have the courage to respond to opinions during discussion presentations. The conclusion of learning activiteas is active student involvement in the from of physical and spiritual activities during the learning process in order to support success and benefit from these learning activiteas.
