ABSTRACT This research studies the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery through storytelling at eight grade students of SMPN 1 Kupang. The research aim was to find out the students’ improvement on vocabulary through storytelling. The research applied the quantitative research, using pre-experimental design in this study. There were 29 students at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Kupang which in class C, 29 students were participated in this research. The data collection was obtained by using tests, pre- tests and post-tests. While technique of data collection is found by calculating the mean score in both pre-test and post-test. The result of this study showed that there is a significance difference between pre-test and post-test as the mean score of pre-test was 39,51 and in post-test is 78,89. Based on that students’ vocabulary mastery improved 39,38 points. While, in paired sample test, there is a significance result between the pre-test and post-test based on the significance value is 0.0000.05. The hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. There is an improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery. The research questions have answered.

This research is entitled improving students speaking skill through communicative language teaching (CLT) method at SMP Negeri 1 Kupang. Speaking skill is one of four skills that important in English but some students had problems with their speaking skill. The writer used communicative language teaching (CLT) method in teaching English especially by using picture series to help students improving their speaking skill. The aim of this research was to determine whether communicative language teaching (CLT) method improving students speaking skill. This research used pre experimental designs. The population of the research was 8th A grade of SMP Negeri 1 Kupang. The total of the population was 11 classes, while for sample the writer used cluster random sampling. There were 32 students as sample of this research. In collecting the data, the writer used speaking test, pre test and post test to know students’ speaking skill. The result of data analysis show that the mean score of students on pre test was 7.81. After the treatment given by the writer, the mean score of students on post test was17.34 and the improvement was 12.2 %. The data analyzed by using t-test. The t-test value (5.21) was greater than t-table value (1.69552) the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. The result showed that there was an improvement on students speaking skill through communicative language teaching (CLT) method.

This research is entitled improving students pronunciation skill through English Language Speech Assistant (ELSA) application at UKAW. Pronunciation skill is one of four skills important in English, but some students had problems with their pronunciation skill. The writer used English Language Speech Assistant (ELSA) application in teaching English especially by using ELSA content display to help students improving their pronunciation skill. The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of mobile assisted English language speech assistant (ELSA) application in improving students’ pronunciation skill. This research used pre-experimental design. The population of the research was 136 students of EESP, which 18 students of 2nd semester EESP UKAW in Kupang were chosen purposively as sample of this research. In collecting the data, the writer used pre-test and post-test to know students’ pronunciation skill. The result of data analysis show that the mean score of students on pre-test was 15. After the treatment given by the writer, the mean score of students on post-test was 18,44 and the improvement was 23%. The data analysed by using t-test. The t-test value (1,4) was greater than t-table value (1.740) the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. The result showed that there was an improvement on students’ pronunciation skill through English Language Speech Assistant (ELSA) application. in teaching and learning using Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) technology capabilities can improve students’ pronunciation skill in English using the English Language Speech Assistant (ELSA) speak application, it was proven by the students’ post-test score is higher than pre-test score from the level 57% to the level 85%.

The formulation of the problem in this study, namely does teaching English using a role play technique to improve student speaking skill? This research aims to find out whether teaching English using a role play technique can improve students’ speaking skill or not. In conducting the study, the researcher used quantitative method. The data was collected by using pre-experimental design with pre-test, treatment and post-test. The population in this research was all of the eighth grade students’ of SMPN 5 Kota Kupang. The researcher use cluster random sampling. The research decided to choose class VIII D, which consisted of 29 students. The instrument of this research was speaking test. To analyze the score of the students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test, the researcher used t-test analyzes. The result of the data showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The value of t-test 12,818 was greater than the t-table 2,048 at the level of significant 0.05 and degree of freedom 28. It can be said that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Means that there was a significant difference between the students’ speaking skill before in which the students got the mean score of pre-test was 1.785 and after using role play the students’ speaking skills improved in which the mean score of post-test was 2.380. So the researcher hopes to English teacher to used role play as one of technique in teaching and learning process especially in teaching speaking abilities. The title of this writing “Teachers’ strategies in improving the students’ creativity in learning English at SMPN 3 Amarasi Barat” The research problems of the study were: What are teachers‟ strategies in improving the students‟ creative in learning English at SMPN 3 Amarasi Barat? The aim of this study was to find out teachers‟ strategies in improving the students‟ creative learning English at SMPN 3 Amarasi Barat. The method used in this writing is qualitative method. The data of this resarch is taken from SMPN 3 Amarasi Barat. The result of this study showed that strategies that used by teachers in improving the students‟ creativity in learning English at SMPN 3 Amarasi Barat are namely: autocratic strategies, Group Discussion, Students Presentation and Brainstorming. The suggestion of this study is the English teacher should be able in choosing what strategies in teaching English relevant to with the students‟ ability needs and interests

The formulation of the problem in this study, namely does the implementation of debate technique improving speaking skills in learning English? This research aims to find out whether the students'' speaking skills improve after implementing the Debate Technique in learning English. In conducting the study, the researcher used quantitative method. And the way collected data by using pre-experimental design with pre-test, treatment and post-test. The population in this research were all of the eleventh grade students’ of SMK Negeri 5 Kupang. The researcher use Purposive Sampling Technique. The research decided to choose XI Teknik Tenaga Surya dan Angin 2, which consisted of 15 students. The instruments of this research was speaking test and recording. To analyze the score of the students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test, the researcher used t-test analyzes. The result of the data showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. The value of t-test 9,915 was greater than the t-table 1,716 at the level of significant 0.05 and degree of freedom 14. It can be said that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Which means that there was a significant difference between the students’ speaking ability before in which the students got the average score of pre-test was 269,4 and after using debate the students’ speaking skills improved in which the average score of post-test was 342,47.
