USE MIND MAPPING STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ INFORMATIVE TEXT WRITING: A PRE-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY AT ARTHA WACANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2020/2021
ABSTRACT This research is entitled “USE MIND MAPPING STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ INFORMATIVE TEXT WRITING: A PRE-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY AT ARTHA WACANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2020/2021”. The aim of this study is to describe mind mapping strategy improving students’ ability in writing informative text and to know the students’ perceptions on the advantages and disadvantages of using mind mapping strategy. To achieve the goal of this study, the researcher did quantitative research was used as a method in this study and research design used was Pre-experimental research. The study was carried out in two classes, they are a control class and the experimental class. The data were gathered through tests which were delivered into the pre-test, post-test and questionnaires were used as instrument in this research. The result of this study indicates that the mind mapping strategy is effective to use in writing informative text. Students gained score of the experimental class (80,83 ) is the mean scores of post-test and control class mean score of post test (71,25). This scores prove that the significant different between experimental class and control class. Therefore, teaching of informative text by using mind mapping strategy is effective and interesting strategy to be applied.
