Abstrak
ABSTRACT This thesis is written under the title “ A Semantic Analysis On Idiomatic Expression Of Koda Kiwan In Welcoming Guest Ceremony In Lamaholot Language ” with the research question what are the idiomatic expression and what are the types of meaning of idiomatic expression in welcoming guest ceremony in Lamaholot language ?The aim of this study is to find out idiomatic expression in welcoming guest ceremony in Lamaholot Language, and the types of meaning of idiomatic expression used in welcoming guest ceremony. The data of this research is found from videos on YouTube about welcoming guest ceremony. The writer used documenter analysis as the research design, a kind of of research under qualitative research in analysis data. The writer analyzed the data based on on seven types of meaning by Leech in Pateda (2010). The result of this study shows that there are thirty four idiomatic expressions, consist of four types of meaning,-ied est conceptual meaning, connotative meaning, affective meaning, and reflected meaning, with each examples, conceptual meaning; ama, bunga, benang, wato, tana, lema, ina, connotative meaning; sampe wulan haka matan, kowa hadi lera deka ekan kuma, tukan kuma heba me’an, puken bekata lolon botuna, uhune kemuan matane tobo ta’a, affective meaning; ake poro koli geto, ake gon tana lagan, lein ha’e kirin ha’e no holo ha’ato, lugu pai sadan wulim, and reflected meaning; ama belen pulo kae, ribu lein lau ratu lema weran rae, mo geroe gaha gapen tana langu. It was found that connotative meaning is dominanted in those four types of meaning. Based on the findings, the writer suggested for English learner, especially Lamaholot language user, to conduct further study about types of meaning in Lamaholot language to enrich lexical ability.
