ABSTRACT AN ANALYSIS OF BLOCKING PROCESS IN ENGLISH AFFIXATION FOUND ON DJENAR MAESA AYU NOVEL This thesis is entitled “An Analysis of blocking process is English affixation in Djenar Maesa Ayu Novel”. Novel is one of book story that often read by many people to learn English. Based on observations, the researcher found that many people can speak English but do not understand the blocking occur affixation of their sentences. So, from this problem, the writer interested to do the research about Blocking occur affixation on djenar maesa ayu novel. The aims of study are to find out the types blocking affixation found in Djenar Maesa Ayu novel and to find out what are the factor of blocking affixation found in Djenar Maesa Ayu novel. In this research the writer used descriptive qualitative method. The data resource of this research is novel. The data will collect from novel entitled Djenar Maesa Ayu. From the results of the research it shows the types of blocking affixation on djenar maesa ayu novel are derivational affixes and inflectional affixes. Based on the data collected and analyzed, it was found there are 310 blocking affixation found on djenar maesa ayu novel which consist of 122 derivational affixes and 178 inflectional affixes. The last based on phonological factor(adjective) + ly (suffix), morphological factor ( noun ) + able (suffix (semantic factor, blocking affixation on case. The case occurs on application of negative prefix (-un) on words that have negative meaning and have opposite words with positive meaning.
