Analisis Soal Jenis HOTS Dalam Soal Ujian Bahasa Inggris Di SMPN 10 Kupang Tahun Ajaran 2019/2020
This research focused on analyzing the question that measuring high order thinking skills (HOTS) under the title “An Analysis On HOTS Question Type In English School Examination Questions At SMPN 10 Kupang In Academic Year 2019/2020”. The purposes of this study are to find out and analyze the percentage of the distribution question of HOTS in English School Examination and to find out the characteristic of HOTS question type in English School Examination using the descriptive qualitative method and content analysis. The writer collected and listed the questions in English School Exam and then calculated the percentage of each level of cognition. The results showed that, the distribution question of HOTS was 16 questions out of 45 questions or 35.6% and LOTS was 29 questions or 64.4%. Almost all the questions presented stimulus contains the characteristic of HOTS type question. However, in order to measured the question that categorize as HOTS not only has a stimulus but also should have critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. Therefore there are only 16 questions that fulfill the characteristics of HOTS type question in the English School Examination question. The most dominant level in the English School Exam question was lower order thinking skills (LOTS) it was 64.4% of 100 % while for higher order thinking skills (HOTS) it was 35.6%. It indicated that this question concentrated more on lower level thinking questions than higher level thinking.
