A NATURAL SEMANTIC METALANGUAGE ANALYSIS ON VERB TO TAKE IN AMANUBAN DIALECT OF UAB METO
ABSTRACT This research is about “A NATURAL SEMANTIC METALANGUAGE ANALYSIS ON VERB TO TAKE IN AMANUBAN DIALECT OF UAB METO". The problems of this study are what are the kinds of ‘verb to take’ in Uab Meto of Amanuban dialect and how does the ‘verb to take’ are using in Uab Meto of Amanuban dialect. The aims of this research are to find out the kinds of ‘verb to take’ in Uab Meto of Amanuban dialect and how the ‘verb to take’ are using in Uab Meto of amanuban dialect. Descriptive qualitative method is used in doing this research. The writer applies the Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) approach of Goddard’s (2002) theory to find out the results with picture through interview. The ‘verb to take’ in Uab Meto has same meaning but different action. Based on the data analysis it was found that in Uab Meto of Amanuban dialect, the ‘verb to take’ can be expressed in fourteen lexicon, namely naiti, ntet, nabak, nloti, nseki, nhel, nau, nbok, naheun, nkui, nseu, nhetu, nbuti, nlefi. The semantic structure based on the argument show; if someone ‘take’ then the component can be mapped to ‘X do something to Y’ and because of this ‘Y move to X’ at the same time, X wants this , X do something like this.
